Kremlin Says New Ukraine Talks Imminent
Addressing journalists in the Russian capital, Peskov acknowledged active preparations but refused to disclose scheduling or discussion points.
"This will happen soon," he said, offering no additional information, according to a state-run news agency.
The disclosure arrives amid continued diplomatic engagement on the Ukraine crisis through various pathways, with Moscow asserting negotiations remain viable despite active combat operations.
Russian authorities have consistently emphasized openness to talks while demanding any discussions acknowledge what they term "new realities on the ground."
Peskov's statement follows two-day negotiations on Feb. 4-5 in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, involving Russia, Ukraine, and the US.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously indicated Kyiv's delegation would provide him with updates on what he described as the "most sensitive" aspects of the talks upon their return, stressing that such issues could not be discussed remotely.
The Abu Dhabi sessions produced a prisoner swap and received characterization from participating nations as constructive and centered on establishing foundations for enduring peace.
